Syndication Workgroup

Charter

Syndication of listings to a wide variety of listing portals, such as Google, Yahoo!, Trulia, Zillow, and many others, is a priority for listing agents and brokers. To address this, the Syndication Work Group will focus on creating a standardized listing data and transport specification that makes it easy for brokers to syndicate their listings to multiple sites. Basing that standardized format on the RETS Schema makes it easier for brokers to get data from their MLS and syndicate it efficiently, without having to do a lot of data normalization. The Syndication Workgroup has the following goals: 1. Create a limited or compact schema based on and compatible with the full RETS Schema, with the required fields necessary to post relevant data to consumer oriented listing web sites. MLS's can also utilize this light schema as a RETS payload for use cases like IDX. 2. Create a simple method for posting new listings, updating existing listings, and deleting old listings on consumer oriented listing portals and IDX sites. The workgroup is encouraged to look into simple standards like HTTP POST and RESTful principles. This new syndication option will differ from the metadata approach of RETS 1.x.
